Shopping Chain Campaign Throughout Israel (06/08)

How important are a few more shekels in the receipt you get at the end of a shopping spree? Not much perhaps, but they can add up to save lives!

Leading shopping chains throughout Israel have joined Ezer Mizion in a fund-raising campaign to finance the lab testing of blood samples given by IDF recruits who join Ezer Mizion's Bone Marrow Registry as part of their induction into the Israeli army. This nationwide fundraising campaign is being held during the months of June and July.

In the course of this campaign, customers are asked to contribute a few shekels to help finance bone marrow testing, which costs 180 NIS for each blood sample. The money that will be collected will enable Ezer Mizion to add new potential bone marrow donors to the Registry and will provide hope of a cure for many cancer patients.

The shopping chains that joined this effort are: Ribua Kachol Israel, Golf&Co, Supersol, GALI, Solog and the Wertheimer-Sport chain.

Ezer Mizion's Bone Marrow Registry currently includes over 350,000 potential stem cell donors and is the largest Jewish bone-marrow Registry in the world. To date, the Registry has saved the lives of nearly 400 patients.

We salute the shopping chains for joining in this effort to expand Ezer Mizion's Registry. On behalf of the cancer patients and their families, we express our deep appreciation to the management and the cashiers for their willingness and enthusiasm to rally customers to this important cause.

Lives can be saved by this combined effort! These are just a few shekels to
each one of us, but to cancer patients this is their hope for life.
