A gala event marking "Volunteer's Day" to salute and honor volunteers and the spirit of volunteer work shown by the different organizations that are active in the area, took place in the Beit Hatsulah Hall in Kiryat Gat in the presence of Mayor. Aviram Dahari and other community leaders.
As was aptly stated by Mrs. Martine Mamo, Coordinator of Volunteer Services at the municipal Welfare Department: "You express the unique human strength and enthusiasm of our city. You are people who get up from the easy chair and go outside on a sweltering day as well as in freezing weather in order to give from yourselves to others, in order to contribute and to be useful, in order to assist and strengthen, simply in order to serve your fellow man."
In the course of the event the Mayor's Shield was awarded to Ezer Mizion's Branch in Kiryat Gat and certificates of merit were awarded to four outstanding volunteers.
Mrs. Zisel Keisler, the senior volunteer in the Kiryat Gat branch, received the award on behalf of Ezer Mizion. Mrs. Keisler volunteers regularly three times a week in any area for which there is a need. She always responds to any call or request even outside her regular volunteer hours.
Others present at the event were Mr. Dan Shefer, Administrator of the volunteer work unit in the Ministry of Welfare, Mrs. Ruchama Nagar, Southern District Inspector, Mr. Yehuda Lugami, Welfare Department Administrator, Mr. Chaim Shalom, Welfare Commissioner, Lieutenant Colonel Avi Katovits and IDF Major Shirley Dagan, representatives of the Israel armed forces. |
